Modern Slavery Statement for Man and Van Removal Company

Man and Van is committed to conducting all aspects of our removal and relocation services ethically, responsibly, and in full compliance with applicable laws on modern slavery and human trafficking. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risk of modern slavery within our own operations and throughout our supply chains.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, child labour, and exploitation. This policy applies to every aspect of our business activities, including direct employment, subcontracted work, agency staff, and all goods and services supplied to us.

All colleagues, from management to operational teams, are expected to uphold this commitment. We do not knowingly engage with any individual, organisation, or supplier that fails to respect basic human rights, fair working conditions, and legal employment standards. We reserve the right to terminate any business relationship where there is evidence of non-compliance with our zero-tolerance stance.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Man and Van provides domestic and commercial removal, packing, and associated logistics services. Our supply chain includes vehicle and equipment providers, storage facilities, fuel and materials suppliers, and occasional use of subcontracted labour for peak periods.

We recognise that some areas of our supply chain may carry higher risks, particularly where temporary labour or subcontracting is involved. We are committed to ongoing assessment of these risks and to taking proportionate and effective actions to mitigate them.

Supplier Standards and Audit Measures

We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we:

Require suppliers to confirm compliance with relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation in the jurisdictions in which they operate.

Assess new suppliers based on their ethical standards, employment practices, and transparency in their own supply chains.

Reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers demonstrating their compliance with anti-slavery and anti-trafficking laws.

Prioritise working with suppliers that can demonstrate clear policies, training programmes, and due diligence processes against modern slavery.

If concerns are identified during an audit or review, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a clearly defined timeframe. Where remediation is not possible or cooperation is not forthcoming, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.

Employee Awareness and Responsibilities

All employees and workers engaged by Man and Van are expected to safeguard the dignity and rights of colleagues, customers, and any individuals encountered through our work. We communicate our zero-tolerance policy and emphasise that involvement in any form of modern slavery, whether direct or indirect, is grounds for disciplinary action and potential termination of employment or contract.

Managers are responsible for remaining alert to potential indicators of exploitation, such as unusual working patterns, signs of coercion, or individuals lacking freedom of movement or control over personal documents.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage anyone associated with Man and Van, including employees, contractors, suppliers, and clients, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices without fear of retaliation.

Concerns can be raised internally with line managers or senior management, or escalated through our established reporting routes. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement and relevant authorities.

No individual who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any adverse treatment as a result of making a report. We are committed to protecting those who speak up and to maintaining confidentiality to the greatest extent possible.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Man and Van is committed to continuously improving our processes, awareness, and controls. We will:

Review our modern slavery risk assessment at least once a year and whenever significant changes occur in our operations or supply chain.

Evaluate the effectiveness of our policies, audits, and reporting channels and update them as needed.

Engage with suppliers and staff to strengthen understanding of modern slavery risks and good practice in prevention.

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and approved annually by the leadership of Man and Van and reflects our continued dedication to operating with integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights in everything we do.
